Proposal 21: Documentation of Records - Part 3 - Venue, Technical Equipment and Measurements [ Revision 2 ]

Committee: Review and Update the Guidelines
Submitted on 2025-01-21
Status: Passed on April 15, 2025

Background

The current section 2.3 is very short and does not yet contain any link to the IUF Rulebook, which will be changed with the proposal.

See Body for detailed explanation.

Proposal

Old Rule:

2.3 COURSE AND TIME MEASUREMENT

If applicable to the record category, documentation of how the timing was accomplished, as well as how the course was measured, must be submitted.

New Rule:

2.3 Venue, Technical Equipment and Measurements

1. For all disciplines for which the IUF Rulebook sets requirements for the venue and the technical equipment, proof must be provided that these requirements have been met. The specific requirements for individual disciplines must be taken from the IUF Rulebook and the respective sections for the individual disciplines in these Guidelines.

2. All measurements must be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the IUF Rulebook. For all measurements, the measuring equipment used for the measurement must be documented.

3. Where the IUF Rulebook sets different requirements for World Championships and other competitions, the requirements for World Championships are always apply to World Records. Where the IUF Rulebook and these Guidelines set different requirements, the requirements of these Guidelines apply.

4. In case of doubt about the suitability of a venue or technical equipment, it is recommended to contact the IUF before a record attempt.

5. For some record categories, additional photo/video evidence must be submitted. Details can be found in the respective sections for the individual disciplines in these Guidelines.

Body

This section should list the information that needs to be provided about the Venue, Technical Equipment and Measurements for a world record. Since this section is the most specific for each discipline the general section 2.3 summarizes the information as generally as possible and the sections of the individual disciplines contain the specific requirements.
As the requirements of the individual disciplines are sometimes very extensive and entail changes to other parts of the WRG, a separate proposal is to be drawn up for each discipline and only the general section 2.3 will be covered here. Details can be found in the discussions on the topic (https://world-record-2017.committees.unicycling-software.com/discussions/22 and https://world-record-2017.committees.unicycling-software.com/discussions/45).
