Proposal 24: Documentation of Records in Jumps [ Revision 4 ]

Committee: Review and Update the Guidelines
Submitted on 2025-01-24
Status: Passed on April 07, 2025

Background

The proposal is intended to revise the specific documentation criteria for the jumps. It is a addition to the general documentation criteria.

See Body for detailed explanation.

Proposal

Old Rule:

non-existent

New Rule:

7.2 Jumps specific Documentation Criteria

1. Any jump record must be set on flat, firm and level ground, which must be confirmed by the event director's statement of compliance with the rules.
2. All length measurements must be carried out with a measuring tape of defined accuracy, of which the tolerance does not exceed 2.4 mm over 10 m. The measurement procedure, including the reference points used and the measuring equipment used, must be submitted.
3. For all performances in Long Jump on Track that are set up outdoors, a wind measurement must be carried out in accordance with IUF Rulebook (section 2D.10). The wind velocity shall be measured for a period of 5 seconds from the time when the rider passes a mark 20 m from the jump marker. If the speed-up of the rider is shorter than 20 m, the time begins with the start of the speed-up. The results of the measurement must be recorded in the official results list. A technical identification of the wind measurement system must be submitted.

Body

There are currently no specific general documentation criteria for the Jump Disciplines. For some disciplines there are requirements under the description of the individual disciplines, but this does not match the structure for the other disciplines. The structure should therefore be standardized with this proposal.

The specifications for the competition venue are based on the rulebook or the current guidelines.
The specifications for the distance/height measurement are based on the current guidelines, but specify the currently rather unclear requirement of a tolerance of +/- 1mm, as the length over which the measuring device may have this tolerance has not yet been specified. The proposed specifications correspond to European Accuracy Class II (EU Directive 2014/32/EU) - there will be comparable guidelines for all countries, so that together with the required submission of which measuring equipment was used, compliance with the accuracy can be easily checked.
The wind measurement is based on what was discussed in another discussion (https://world-record-2017.committees.unicycling-software.com/discussions/32).
